Caporetto

On October 24th, 1917, the Battle of Caporetto began, taking its name from the village (at present Kobarid, in Slovenia) around which it took place. It was not the bloodiest battle of World War I, but nowadays in Italy its name means a ruinous defeat. Before, during and after the defeat, the military leaders displayed, as usual, their incompetence and cowardice, blaming the soldiers for the defeat, and punishing them with decimation.

works by Giuseppe Scalarini (1873-1948)

To remember the millions of soldiers and civilians who lost their lives, in the battles of Caporetto, Somme, Gallipoli, and in all the wars, I publish some links of songs against the war and against militarism, which are also beautiful songs.
